About
A while ago, I decided that I absolutely could not live without being
able to listen to music of my own choice in my car. I didn't
want to buy a crummy FM transmitter, I didn't want a crummy faux-tape
input thing, because those give out crummy signals as well. I
was too cheap to spring for an FM modulator, so I decided to hack
the existing tape player in my 1998 Volkswagen Jetta GL and
get it to play my iPod. I won't go into detail about it on
this page, because the full story is included on my blog. View the blog entry here.
When I wrote about this on my blog, I
received over five thousand hits on my blog almost overnight, and I'm
still receiving a fair number of traffic directed toward that post,
even five months after I posted it. I had uploaded the images
to just my normal free Google Pages host, so I quickly ran out of
bandwidth and the pictures disappeared from my blog entry.
I'm sure the visitor traffic would've increased even more had
I had the foresight to upload the pictures to a better server, but I
still received recognition all over notable blogs.

That's my leg below the steering wheel. It's
internationally famous!
I received a TON of
coverage all over the Internet about this simple stereo hack.
Most of the blog posts were either copy/pasting directly from
one of the more notable blogs, or just linking to the more notable
blog's own entry. I've included the three different takes
I've been able to find, that people all over the Internet linked to.
